Personal Video Recorder
The USB Sky Control is known to work with the following PVR software:
Linux
Mac OS X
Windows
-
Whilst we are aware of customers using our controllers with Media Center,
Media Center has very poor support for external tuners like our
controllers, and we cannot recommend it as a
solution. For customers
that want to try it anyway, the below notes may be useful, but
unfortunately we do not have the expertise to assist in debugging
Media Center setup issues. If at all possible, we recommend using one
other PVR solutions listed above/below instead.
My understanding is that the "firestb" solution listed will not
work on 64 bit editions of windows and works only with a limited set
of TV cards , whilst the "zapper" solution works only for live tv
(not for recordings).
Note that due to a MCE limitation, you
must have IR blasters connected to the PC, but they do not have to be used.
Setup
instructions for MCE with Foxtel
Virtual
'IR' driver that may allow use without an IR blaster.
Microsoft Media Center (with DVBLink / HD-PVR)
The exception to the above is when Microsoft Media Center is used
with DVBLink (which is often used with the Hauppauge HD-PVR with a
Sky+HD box). DVBLink has good support for calling external tuners.
- Use the command line
software and the meedio wizard to setup an external
channel changer. (Unfortunately Meedio has now been discontinued)
- Instructions are on the snapstream
forums - software is on the software
page.
- Instructions are in the
Windows command line software.
