Introduction

Our controllers generally required the RF2 power outlet on the sky box to be switched on.

For serial controllers, this is necessary as they draw power from the RF2 outlet.

For USB controllers, this is only necessary for some sky boxes. The USB controllers draw their power from the USB bus, but some Sky boxes only accept RF2 commands if the RF2 power is switched on.

The sequence is the same for most sky boxes, only differing for Sky HD boxes that are using the new EPG.

Sometimes Sky boxes stop outputting power on the RF2 port (for example, if they believe they have detected a short circuit). To reset this, switch the RF2 power off then on again.

Sky / Sky+ / Sky+HD old EPG

On the remote control press:
  • Services
  • 4
  • 0
  • 1
  • Select
(Note that the sky box will show no response when you press '0' and '1', that is normal, just press the keys in the above order.)

Sky+HD - new EPG

On the remote control press:
  • Services
  • 0
  • 0 (press carefully, will not be echoed to the screen)
  • 1 (press carefully, will not be echoed to the screen)
  • Select
  • 4 (selects 'rf outlets')
Then switch 'rf outlet power supply' to 'on' and press 'Green' (Save settings).

Sky Q

We don't have controllers that work with Sky Q yet, but for completeness here is the sequence to access the secret/engineer/installer menu:
  • Home
  • 0
  • 0
  • 1
  • Select
