Dusky Control Ltd has ceased trading

31st January 2021: Due to a sharp decline in orders since the start of the coronavirus crisis, Dusky Control Ltd has ceased trading. Some remaining stock is available to purchase, please email joseph@heenan.me.uk for details.

As of April 2021, we have 7 of the 2 output RF2 controllers, and a small number of 2 output IOPORT controllers. There are also plenty of spare I/O port cables available to replace lost/damaged cables, £15 each.

This website will remain online for now to allow access to documentation etc. If you need help with a controller please email and we will do our best to help.

We stock a range of serial Sky control units. These are primarily used with home automation units such as Crestron, Control4 or AMX to allow full integration of the Sky box into an entertainment system without requiring any ugly/problematic stick on IR emitters.

These connect to the RF2 port on the Sky box and are compatible with all older (pre-2014) Sky boxes that have an RF2 port. They can also be used with modern Sky boxes (except Sky Q) in combination with an I/O link.

Our base unit has 2 output ports, and we have units with 5, 10 and 15 outputs. In all cases, each output is individually controlled.

If you have one of the new non-recording "multi-room" Sky HD boxes (Amstrad DRX595) or built in wifi Sky+HD boxes (DRX890W, DRX895W) with no RF2 ports, please see our I/O port Sky controllers.

The protocol documentation is in the documentation section of this website.

A Crestron driver is available from our software downloads page.A comprehensive driver for Control4 was developed by extravegetables and is now available as an official driver from Control4. A driver for RTI is available from Janus Technology - please email licensing@janustechnology.co.uk for details.

Please note that we are not VAT registered, there is nothing to add on top of the below prices.

Dual output RF2 Sky Controller

Our base model serial Sky controller, capable of controlling one or two Sky/Sky+/Sky+HD boxes (in any combination) via a 8N1 RS232 connection (baud rate is configurable).

Power is drawn from the Sky box(es) connected to the controller (all sky boxes provide 9V @ 75mA on the RF2 port for these kind of purposes).

The RF ports on this unit use satellite style F connectors as preferred by professional installers. For users that prefer normal RF connectors we can supply adaptors for a small charge, please email us for details.

Price: £78 including UK P&P

Five Output RF2 Sky Controller

A serial Sky controller capable of controlling upto five Sky/Sky+/Sky+HD boxes in any combination boxes via a 57600 baud 8N1 RS232 connection (baud rate can be reconfigured).

Power is drawn from the Sky box(es) connected to the outputs 1 and 2 on the controller (all sky boxes provide 9V @ 75mA on the RF2 port for these kind of purposes). An external power connector is also available that can optionally be used (9V 2.1mm tip +ve) - some customers use this where they have a need to monitor the supply rail, or the Sky boxes cannot be configured to enable the RF2 output.

Price: £210 including UK P&P

Ten Output RF2 Sky Controller

A serial controller capable of controlling upto 10 sky/sky+/sky+hd boxes in any combination boxes via a 57600 baud 8N1 RS232 connection (baud rate can be reconfigured).

Price: £310 including UK P&P

Fifteen Output RF2 Sky Controller

A serial controller capable of controlling upto 15 Sky/Sky+/Sky+HD boxes in any combination boxes via a 57600 baud 8N1 RS232 connection (baud rate can be reconfigured).

Price: £430 including UK P&P

Need more outputs?

We can custom produce controllers for controlling any number (within reason!) of Sky boxes, just drop us an email. For example, we often make up white labelled controllers with 16 to 24 outputs in 19" rack cases, with prices starting around £700.

Please email us for details.
